Penske Adds 4th Car for Indy 500
Apr 1 - Penske Racing has hired Danny Sullivan to run in this
year's Indy 500.  The veteran driver is best known for his 1985
"Spin and Win" when he beat Mario Andretti to win the
Indianapolis 500.
Asked whether he expects further such excitment, he said,
"Nah, that was back when drivers were good.  These guys, now
adays, they're just pussies.  Shoot, some of them
are women!
I'll pull out a big lead and win it easily."

April fools!
Junqueira Lands Indy 500 Ride
Apr 2 - 2002 Indianapolis 500 pole winner Bruno Junqueira
will drive a second entry for FAZZT Race Team in the 2010
edition of "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" as a teammate to
Alex Tagliani, team officials announced March 30.

Junqueira, from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, will drive the No. 33 entry
in an attempt to qualify for the race Sunday, May 30 at
Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

In 2009, Junqueira qualified 30th in a Conquest Racing entry
on Bump Day but graciously turned over the car to Tagliani for
the race, as Tagliani failed to qualify

"Because we have enough sponsorship to run a second car at
Indianapolis, we felt it important to give that chance to Bruno,"
said Tagliani, FAZZT's full-time driver in the IZOD IndyCar
Series. "Last year with Bruno as the second driver in the team I
was at, he let his spot in the field go after I had a mishap in
qualifying. And it turned out, I had a pretty good race at the
Indy 500 so it is nice way to say thank you to Bruno for what he
did for me last year."

Tagliani finished 11th in 2009 and was named Indianapolis 500
Chase Rookie of the Year.
"I am thrilled with the opportunity to compete for the FAZZT
Race Team at the Indianapolis 500," Junqueira said. "The team
will give me the resources and support to compete in a car that
has the capabilities of winning at the Indianapolis 500.

"To win at Indianapolis has always been a dream of mine. I've
had some very competitive opportunities at Indianapolis, and in
each year I've led laps and scored two top-five finishes at the
Speedway. I hope that in 2010 I am able to complete my dream
of a win at Indianapolis since I have been so close in the past."
John Andretti Gets Ready For Indy
Apr 2 - Richard Petty again has joined with Window World Inc.
and
John Andretti to field an IZOD IndyCar Series entry, this
time with Andretti Autosport.

Michael Andretti announced that the team will field the No. 43
Team Window World car for his cousin at Kansas Speedway on
May 1 and for the Indianapolis 500 on May 30. After his debut
on the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway oval in the Road Runner
Turbo Indy 300, John Andretti will attempt to qualify for his 11th
Indy 500.

Last year, Window World and Petty teamed up with John
Andretti for the 500 Mile Race through a program with Dreyer &
Reinbold Racing. He started 28th and finished 19th. Andretti
has four top-10 finishes in his 10 races, with a best of fifth in
1991 (started seventh) in a Jim Hall-owned car. Andretti made
his Indy 500 debut in 1988 (Mike Curb Motorsports) and
competed through 1994 (A.J. Foyt Racing). He returned in
2007 with Panther Racing.

The car will feature the “Pretty Blue” and “Day-Glo Red” color
scheme tied to Richard Petty’s unparalleled NASCAR career.

ZZ Top In Concert On Carb Day
Apr 7 - May 28th is Carb Day at the speedway this year.  There
will be a Indy Lights race followed by the pit-stop competition.
Afterward, in the infield, will be the annual free Carb Day
concert, which this year will feature ZZ Top.

ZZ Top, a trio formed in 1969 in Houston, is the longest-running
band still consisting of its original members and was inducted
into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. The band has
recorded its signature blues-rock sound on 14 studio albums
since its 1970 debut. I love all of their fast, hard beat music
about women and cars and I think this will be the best Carb Day
concert ever!

Speedway Museum Keeps Car
Apr 14 - A former race car driver has lost his lawsuit to force
the return of a car displayed at the Indianapolis Motor
Speedway Hall of Fame Museum.

The car is a Porsche 935 K3 in which Reginald "Don"
Whittington, his brother and Klaus Ludwig won the 1979 24
Hours of Le Mans.
Whittington claimed he only loaned the car to the museum
when he handed it over in the early 1980s. The foundation
that runs the museum argued it was donated.

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago decided in
favor of the museum Tuesday, ruling that Whittington didn't
have sufficient documentation.

The court says the lesson is that "an unwritten contract isn't
worth the paper it isn't written on."
IndySpeedway Offers 'Dream' Cook-out to 500 Winner
Apr 30 - Tony Stewart is offering the winner of the Indianapolis 500 a
chance to race some of his buddys on his little dirt track in Ohio in
something called a dirt late model.

Not to be out done, this Web site is offering the Indy 500 winner and
his guest, a chance to eat at my after-race cook-out with my buddys.
The winner can enjoy beer and hot dogs after the race, followed by a
game of darts in my garage.  Game winnings will be donated to charity.
Which Would You Choose?  Hmm?
