Sept 2 - Indycar went to Detroit this Labor Day weekend and raced on the bumpy street circuit of Belle Isle.
Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon stayed in front as they fought for the series point lead. But on the final lap, both
drivers end up tangled up and in the wall! Tony Kanaan picked up his 5th win of the season as the race finished under
caution. Danica Patrick picked up 2nd place.
Helio Castroneves was making news today as he will be competing on the television show, "Dancing With The Stars".
Toward the end of the race, Castroneves came into
a turn too fast and hit Tomas Scheckter in the
rear, knocking them both out of the race.
Interviewed afterwards, Scheckter dryly said that
maybe Castroneves was not thinking about racing,
but thinking about dancing.

The season finale is next weekend at Chicagoland,
where the championship will be decided.

Sept 9 - The 17th and final race of the Indycar season
took place in Chicagoland this afternoon.
While Tony Kanaan had an outside chance to win the
season championship, Scott Dixon and Dario Franchitti
were the most likely winners.
Marco Andretti had an accident and hit the wall. He went
to the hospital as he complained of neck pain.
Kanaan had some bad luck early and Dixon and Franchitti
ran in the top 5 throughout the race.
For awhile, it looked as if the Penskes would finish 1-2 as
Sam Hornish, Jr. led the race.
Danica Patrick spent some time trying to help her
teammate Franchitti by drafting behind him. At one point,
she passed him for 3rd.
At the end, pit stops and cautions played a role putting
Dixon in the lead with Franchitti right behind him. Various
drivers dove in for a splash of fuel, including the Penskes.
Patrick spun on pit lane.
It looked like Dixon would win the race and the
championship, but he ran out of fuel on the last lap and
Franchitti took both wins away from him which included a
million dollar check.
There is a strong rumor that Franchitti will be driving for
Dixon's team owner, Chip Ganassi, next year. However,
NOT in Indycar, but in NASCAR! Hornish will be racing in
Nascar, but said today that he's certain he will continue to
race indycar.

Red Bull Toyota, marking his debut in stockcars.
