The VF-22 is the first challenger produced by
an all-new design-office in Maranello, Italy,
spearheaded by Technical Director Simone
Resta.
“The biggest change is the aerodynamics, and
from that perspective it’s a complete revolution
because the regulations are so different," said
Resta.
In terms of the car itself – other than the
steering wheel, pedals, and extinguisher –
there are no carryovers. Everything must be
changed essentially."
March 2022 - Haas had a Russian sponsor and a Russian Driver, as seen below.
After the launch, Russia attacked the Ukraine and Formula 1 cancelled the Russian Grand Prix.
Businesses and sports around the world began cancelling business with Russia in protest,
as governments began sanctioning Russia and sending aid to the Ukraine.
Haas decided to fire their Russian driver and drop their Russian sponsor, Uralkali -
a fertilizer company of which Mazepin's father is a major shareholder.
Instead of giving the seat to their reserve driver, Pietro Fittipaldi, Haas hired back their 2020
driver, Kevin Magnussen with a multiyear contract.
