IndyCar Races in Spain in 2027

Oct 23 - The new
2027 IndyCar Schedule was released today and there are some changes
toward the end of the season.

The race at the Nashville Super Speedway has been dropped, thus lowering the number of
oval tracks from 6 to 5.

While the Washington D.C. street race was a huge success this year, it was a one-off
special race celebrating America's 250th birthday, and is not on the 2027 schedule.  So, the
number of street races drops from 6 to 5 as well.

The big news is that IndyCar will be racing in Spain next year at the Barcelona Circuit.
IndyCar champion
Alex Palou is from Spain, and his countrymen are sure to be excited
about this new event.

The last time Indy cars raced in Europe was in 2007, when CART held events in Belgium
and the Netherlands.  That would be their final season.

The track, formally known as Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, has been used for years by
Formula 1 and MotoGP.  A new track was constructed in Madrid this year and F1 raced at
both tracks.  They are dropping Barcelona and just racing in Madrid next year.

The course is 2.89 miles long and contains 16 turns. The main straight is 0.65-miles long.
