The Snake Pit Show
Since the early days of the Indy 500, people have been partying in
the infield at the speedway.
The number of young people partying in the Turn 1 infield in the
1970s became so notorious, the area was labeled the "Snake Pit."
The partying continued through the 1980s.
Today, the name has officially been applied to a large EDM show
which takes place in the 3rd Turn Infield on race day. It starts early
in the morning and runs through mid-afternoon as the race runs.
There are no track activity on the track Saturday.
There is an hour-long autograph session at 9 a.m. in the Pagoda Plaza.
All drivers will be there.
There will be 11 lines leading to 3 drivers each.
Choose a line.
Get in line early.
At 10:30 a.m., the drivers are gathered together near pit lane and
given final instructions and awards. You can attend the "Drivers
Meeting" if you have a pass, which might cost $10.
This is called Legends Day, and legendary Indy 500 drivers may be on
hand to sign autographs.
The gates will close early so that fans can attend the Parade and
Concert downtown.
The 500 Festival Parade is the 3rd largest parade in the US.
It is held in downtown Indinanapolis. PARADE INFORMATION

CARB DAY CONCERT - Friday before the race
Carburation Day is the last chance IndyCar drivers get to practice.
Carb Day is the most crowded day at the speedway, outside of the race itself!
About 3:30 pm, after the race activities have finished for the day, there is a
rock concert in the infield of the speedway.
The concert is free, but you can buy some upgrades:
* A large area near the stage is fenced off and you need a Pit Wristband to enter.
They do NOT let you bring in coolers to the Pit area!
* There is a raised platform off to the side of the stage and you need VIP ticket to enter that.
This event began in 2000.

It costs money to get in and you have to be at least 18 years old. You may get carded upon entry.
First, you need a race ticket just to enter the speedway. General Admission is the cheapest.
Then, in order to enter the Snake Pit crowd, you will need a Snake Pit General Admission Wristband.
If you wish, you can buy a more expensive wristband which lets you enter the Snakepit VIP area
- a raised viewing platform by the stage with a cash bar and private air-conditioned bathrooms.
Carb Day Admission $50 - Buy early and it only costs $30
Pit Wristband $40 - Buy early and it only costs $25
VIP Wristband $275
