Thanks for the info. Your info site was very helpful in planning parking and
travel for this year's F1-GP. Plenty US fans there and a great race in a great
venue. This may be one of the best races of the calendar with flat infield and
low downforce straight/final bend.

I enjoyed your page this past few months. I like reading about your jaunts to
the track and all the stuff that goes with it. Really like the pictures. I even
took your recommendation and took some Fosters to the 500 this year.
Also liked the stuff about the driving school. It doesn't sound so easy
hearing you describe it.
My older daughter has been to Indy many times for ice skating competitions
so it is kind of our second home. Our goal is to buy a home on Meridian
next to the guy that owns the Colts - just kidding.
I am fixing to go into race depression for the winter but will keep reading
your page. Keep up the good work!

Just came across your GREAT site this morning. Yours is the by far the
best. I'm flying in for the weekend on Friday. The info on your site has
already made a difference in my visit. I'm buying a pair of tickets from a
local person who is meeting me at the Airport. One thing that I have been
unable to find is a seating chart that shows exactly where each seat is
located. Tough to make a buying decision when you can't compare exact
location. If you know of a web page with more detail on seats please pass it
along. That would be great.
I have my own personal one that I made, however there is not one available
out there. Since the Speedway chooses not to release the information to
the public, I haven't either. However, when people write and ask me, I'll write
them back and tell them where their seats are. - Dan

I'm writing to thank you for the work you put into your website. I just finished
reading your journal report from yesterday and realized how much I enjoy
vicariously experiencing being there through you. So...I thank you.
My son doesn't yet know he'll probably see his first breasts (other than
mom's of course) at the race. I think I'll let him be surprised. It'll be more fun
that way. I'll just have to get the camera ready to catch his expression. HAH!
Out here, in the morning I check the streaming audio during practice (my
office has a great on line connection), and then I read your journal. Keep it
coming. Guys and gals like me (wannabetherebutcan't) eat it up.
You might also like to know that I bought my tickets from a guy who posted
them on your website. I read all of your seating suggestions and then
checked the Indy website video/3-D track photos. Very cool way to see
what the seating is like. Please keep the pictures (especially the babes and

I am writing this e-mail to tell you that you have an excellent web site
dedicated to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. I check it quite regularly
and find your articles well written and interesting.
Your web site assisted me in fulfilled my lifelong dream last year when we
took the old RV and made the trek from Toronto, Canada down to witness
the Indy 500. I have watched it religiously on TV for about 20 odd years with
every year saying "Next year I will see it in person" It was every bit as
exciting as I imagined. Witnessing the speeds, attendance and
accessibility to drivers/ cars at the speedway really make the Toronto Indy
(185 mph top speed on the back straight, 76,000 people, $40.00 garage
access, where the closest car is 20 feet away, and covered) seem like
childs play.
There is absolutely no information about the Indy 500 in T.O. and it was very
nice to have a website to go to and get all the information required to have
a successful trip right from arrival through to making the trip back home. I
knew exactly what to expect and where to go.
Keep up the excellent work.

Dan, thanks for all the info you posted on the net for the Brickyard. We
followed much of the advice you provided and had a stress free Brickyard
400.
A fellow from work was selling 4 seats in Penthouse A at face value about 2
weeks ago....an offer we could pass up. We tried a few hotels near Indy but
at that late date there wasn't much. So we booked a hotel in Kokomo, about
1 1/2 hours out of Indy for less than $60/night. And off we went.
The shuttle was definitely the way to go. We drove into the airport with little
trouble (most people were trying to drive downtown), and jumped on a bus
at about 9 a.m. with no waiting. Into Indy the bus took back roads and we
were at the track in just over 30 minutes. On the way out, the buses for
downtown were packed, but there was hardly anyone in line for the airport.
We were back to our car within the hour. Pretty fast considering the traffic.
Your web site provided a lot of useful and interesting information. Thanks a
lot.

Great page you have. Loved this years May stories. Here is a tip for all the
Indy Car fans out there with wives who hate racing and would rather spend
Mother's Day with mom instead of at the track. Take them to Community
Day. Driving on the track is great enough, but getting to see and meet the
drivers is key.
They have to have someone to root for, whether it be girl or guy, cute or
cocky, tall (Carlson and Hillenburg), or short (Kite and Boat). The NASCAR
fan Georgia wife of mine is hooked after the last two years at the
Speedway, and access into Gasoline Alley did it (hates Boat, loves
Carlson). Preparation is key also, nice hotel, reserved race day parking
bought on Community Day when crowds are down (won't clue you in on my
secret), and keeping her warm and dry between track activities. The final
touch though is a trip to Orlando for the INDY 200 every January. Gets to
see cars and do theMickey thing every year. I'm on it.
Attached is a pic of my wife, myself and A.J., taken on last year's C Day
(notice beer in hand). Try pulling that off in Gasoline Alley 3 years ago.

I just wanted to thank you real quick for your website. I used it in order to
make my weekend more organized. I took my 3 yr old son and he had a
blast. the rain delay kind of screwed things up a little though. There is an
easier way in though that you don't advertise. As soon as you get on
Crawfordsville Rd from 465N, turn left where the shell station is, then go all
the way down 25th st to Georgetown. This was absolutely the less
congested road in the city. I ended up "befriending" a vendor for $25 and
parked on the corner of 25th and Georgetown. Another piece of advice is to
wait and get your tickets the day of the race, they were giving them away.

F1 as the 500 gets? Well I paid 140 for my ticket. I'm in the Paddock by the
start/finish. I hope this is an idea location. Thanks for all the info on your site.
Anything other secrets you have would be appreciated. Thanks

Dan, Today I received my ticket confirmation for the USGP. I requested &
got NW vista, but not being familiar with the stands, I attempted to find my
seat location (NW Vista S11 LL 22-23) on the internet, and found your site.
Thanks for the great info; I think my seats are in the area of your Turn 4
photo's, which will provide a great view of the turn 4 infield complex, and
hopefully the straight & braking zone for road course turn 1. This is the view I
was hoping for!

Hi Dan;
I really enjoy your website, and I check it often. The "500" has always been a
passion with me, and my "rookie" year at the speedway was 1984, Rick
Mears' second win (I think). At any rate, I have been there for ten races, (two
rained out), and being from San Diego, I can't make it back there as often
as I would like.
I think that with the political battle between Cart and IRL, the ultimate winner
will be the "500", I think that race fans want to see primarily quality racing,
especially with our own American drivers, and now that Little Al has come
over, and as you have reported, Vasser and Montoya coming with Chip's
team, that will be a big plus. Cart now only has a handfull of our guys left. Do
you think Michael and some of the others might do the same for this race?

Congratulations, Dan, whenever you get to read this. I've been going to Indy
since '49, and I don't think I've gone the same way too many times. We're
using the maps for our drive over for time trials for the Brickyard 400. Your
information is very thorough, and I think it will be quite helpful for us. You've
spent a lot of time putting this together, and your 'finished product' shows
great results for your hard work. I plan to check in often to see your updates.
Thanks for taking the time to put such helpful information together for us.

I was just watching a Formula One Grand Prix race on TV and was
wondering how it was different from IRL. Wow! What a goldmine of
information on your page. Guess I don't have to wonder what the differences
are between F1, IRL, and CART anymore. Thanks for putting all that
together. I first got interested IRL when my company started sponsoring
Treadway Racing a couple of years ago. I've been following Arie ever since
and I was bummed when I found out he was retiring. I felt REALLY bad when
Arie dumped it in this year's Indy 500. I was hoping he would retire in victory
lane.
Anyway, I jst wanted to drop you a line or two and tell you how much I liked
your page. Thanks for sharing!

Just wanted to let you know that I've really enjoyed your web-page. I first
came across it about 6-7 months ago and thought it was cool. My family and
friends have been attending the race every year since '95. But my family
history at the race goes back to my dad's first in '64. This past race was my
14th (I'm 28).
NEW PICTURES: I was amazed to see that our seats were almost in the
same place. We sat in N.E. Vista Sec. 13 row V. They were probably the
best seats I've had yet.
Also, after seeing the Carb Day pictures from last year, I was (somewhat)
dissappointed that there were no topless shots of this years Carb Day. But
you found some hotties anyway. (Hey I'm married, Not Dead!)
Anyway, Just wanted to drop you a line. We'll be camping in the Coke lot as
usual next year. Just look for the HUGE Texas flag (it's my dad's, I'm in
Maryland)

I attended my first ever Indy 500 on Sunday, May 30, 1999. I grew up
listening to it (then watching it) every year as an honored tradition! I was an
Eddie Sachs fan in theearly 60's and got to your web site while doing an
Infoseek search on him this morning.
I must say... I am very impressed with your web site... the tradition that it
honors (the Indy, the drivers, and the fans' memories) as well as the hearts
that it must touch.
I read with a chuckle your description of Atlanta's (The AJC) view of the Indy
cars coming here in 1998! Please, don't be too hard on them... they know
not... what real racing is! Even Southern Hospitality isn't perfect!
I also enjoyed your web site review and comparison of F1 and the Indy cars,
which was superb.
Again... my congratulations on, and thanks for, a very nice, personal web
site .
I hope you enjoyed the '99 Indy 500. We sure did!
