Boy meets James Garner
My brother was a Boy Scout in 1961 in Indianapolis. He used to
go to the track & sell newspapers as a boy. Our house was
located in Eagledale just walking distance to the track. On Race
day, he went to the track & came home with a big red horn.
When Mom asked him how & where he received the horn, he
simply replied that a guy named James Garner had felt sorry for
him & that he had asked him to sit in the tower with him all day to
actually watch the race! Needless to say, my brother got a real
earful on just who James Garner really was & he finally realized
how lucky he had really been!
