Don't Pitch Your Tent Near the Mud

Every year I attend I have lodging lined up ahead of time with a
relative or acquaintenace.  But about 15 years ago I didn't so I
told my buddy we were just going to pitch tents in the Coke lot
the night before.

It had rained all Saturday so when we arrived after dark most of
the dry spots were gone.  But I found a suitable spot next to a
huge muddy area.

We had a few beers, pitched our tents, and went to sleep.
Before long my buddy couldn't tolerate the noise of nearby
partiers so he moved into my car and went to sleep,

At some point in the middle of the night I was aware from the
revving engine and the drunken cheers that someone was four
wheeling in the mud area, but I was too tired to get up and look.

When I got up in the morning I found my tent and car covered in
mud.  And by the tracks I could tell that at one point the out of
control four wheeler had slid within about 5 yards of the tent I
was sleeping in.  We never did that again.
