Sports cars first raced at Indy as part of the NASCAR Brickyard 400 Weekends in 2012-2014.

In 2020, a new event at IMS, The Indianapolis 8 Hour, featured GT3, GT4 and Touring cars with the
GT World Challenge America series and the Intercontinental GT Challenge series competing in an
8-hour endurance race.

IMSA returned to the Brickyard in 2023 for their own race weekend -
Battle on the Bricks.
