A reader wrote and told me, "Me and my 2 friends go there every Friday and Saturday night. There are pool tables and a lounge area with a big screen tv and a huge dance floor. Every Saturday night they have contests, like the booty bounce and the guys dance contest and battles. There are cash prizes for the winners and the place is off the hook. I recommend this place for everyone, so get your friends and come party with us. This is from the Xtreme girls."

The Emerson Theater - 4634 E. 10th St. - (317) 357-0239
They've finally taken the chairs out of this old delapidated theater and torn the raggedy curtains off the walls. The bands that play here are very heavy metal and punk.
Fountain Square Theatre - 1105 Prospect St - (317) 686-6101
One of the coolest venues in the Midwest. A renovated club/diner from the 20s, it has contributed to the growth of Fountain Square and draws many other forms of music to Indianapolis. There are two venues: The Fountain Square Theatre (the original theater, later turned into a Woolworth in the 50s, and now back to its original layout) where every Friday night they feature swing dancing (lessons too!) to a great Midwestern swing band. The Fountain Room, once a pharmacy owned by former Mayor Stephen Goldsmith's grandfather, has been renovated into a smaller club, with great B-film posters on the walls, and a nice sized stage to feature a variety of acts. They also have the renovated diner (service in Fountain Room, too) that serves great tenderloins, malts and also liquor so those 21+ folk can enjoy a drink.
